I may be just overreacting although its better to be safe than sorry. the guy who owned it before me has a full licence so it was de restricted for him although if I get pulled by the traffic cops, no doubt they will notice. My only problem is when a service is due, no doubt the garage will pick up on it (although its just undergone a service and mot recently so it should be fine for the meantime). It would be a benefit for me if it was derestrcited being that most of the roads around here a bypasses and as you say, 30mph is not safe espically when the national speed limit is 50mph in many areas around here. The only other thing I can think of is that if I did have to restrict it, get a spare exhaust on standby just in case since I personally only have a category p licence. I have been searching the past couple of days via goggle for advice on what restrictor it may have (I am aware of the various types available) which seems to be a combination of a exhaust restrictor (something to do with an extra pipe on the exhaust with a washer which somehow restricts airflow and in certain cases, a nylon spacer on the drive belt).Īlthough being new and I already realise that this means changing the exhaust as the existing one would have been welded to bypass this problem but can anyone confirm if the advice I have read is true and valid for this particular moped?

The problem is the little piaggio is de restricted and being a learner, it must be restricted by law otherwise it will invalidate any insurance on it (I am fully aware of the other implications that it causes including being pulled over by the rozzers). In the past fortnight, I passed my cbt (at the age of 24) and I have finally got myself a set of wheels, a 2005 piaggio Zip 50 to be exact. Good morning all, a new biker here on the scene.
